The issue of the validity of the interpretation of the predecessors is one of the most important thorny issues in our cognitive heritage. This study seeks to address this issue by discussing the argument of one of the most prominent scholars who defended it and established its necessity, namely Ibn Taymiyyah - may God have mercy on him.

Despite the many studies that have addressed this issue in Ibn Taymiyyah, this study differs radically from it in clarifying the foundational premises of the Taymi position regarding the claim of the validity of the interpretation of the predecessors, and consequently in the method of understanding and evaluating this position. This study also delves into the realm of the Taymi mind to explore how these premises arose and were formed, the motives behind them, and the effects that resulted from them in the Taymi approach.

The hope is to stimulate research activity around the interpretive dimensions of addressing the issue of the validity of the interpretation of the predecessors, the necessity of considering the system of understanding and interpretation in the heritage, and drawing a research path to overcome the problems raised by the study in this regard.
